We have found that using a straightforward approach helps many couples, individuals, and families identify their greatest challenge, and gain the courage to find alternative strategies to move past it.
We view the counseling process through a systemic lens. What this means to you as a client, is that we consider all context into what we talk about, and together, we will be guided by our past journey, to understand our future goals. We strive to help you find your ideal balance, in your life, relationships, and future goals.
Believe in Each Other
We base our practice on the foundation of both ideas and skill-sets that we have learned throughout our years of training and life experiences. We firmly believe in the inherent strength and basic goodness in each individual, and find that difficulties are best approached as the “problem” being the problem, you are not the problem.
We understand each person’s voyage is a one-of-a-kind adventure, and we are committed to walking alongside each individual no matter how close or far they are from their destination. Life can be a challenge and we are dedicated to serving as a guide for those in need.
As marriage therapists’ – or couples therapists’ we work with couples in all areas of marriage and couples counseling: relationship support (traditional couples counseling), infidelity/affair recovery (couples counseling with a focus on managing the aftermath of an affair), Discernment Counseling for Couples (couples counseling in which one partner is “leaning in” to the relationship and one is “leaning out”), divorce (or relationship closure) counseling, and sex therapy (sex addiction, pornography addiction, sexualized shame, navigating non traditional relationships, erectile dysfunction, sexual dissatisfaction, painful sex, and overall sexual dissatisfaction).
In individual counseling sessions we can help you attain clarity regarding life roles and relationships; develop assertiveness skills that will help you get your needs met; improve your ability to communicate clearly and affectively in important relationships; understand and manage strong feelings of anger, anxiety, worry or sadness; and learn new ways of coping with stress.
When you don’t have hope, you have no energy or motivation for therapy or for any effort to change your situation. At Compass Community Counseling & Whole Health we are committed and interested in the wellness of you as a whole person not just the “problem” you might identify.
Hope offers us the opportunity to begin anew and to push for spiritual, personal, and professional development, for belief in oneself, for security, and for the setting and achieving of goals. Hope is related to imagination and gives us the ability to see with our heart that which is not visible to our eyes.
On the surface my life looks great, but maybe you feel a lack of direction when you think about your life’s purpose. At Compass Community Counseling & Whole Health we can help you find direction and purpose in all areas of your life again. We believe there is one direction in which we are all meant to go: forward.
We will help you get unstuck by the chaos of life and work you might feel helping to lead you toward a life purpose. You’ll be making your choice on what’s really important to you, right here and right now, not tomorrow.
It can be very healing, in and of itself, to voice your worries or talk about something that’s weighing on your mind. And it feels good to be listened to, to know that someone else cares about you and wants to help. When you take action and start doing things, you begin to feel better almost immediately.
A good therapist helps you to become stronger and more self-aware. But your therapist cannot do the work for you. In order to make the most of your sessions, you must be an active participant.
Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.
Martin Luther King, Jr.
Nothing will work unless you do.
